NASHVILLE - Senate Democratic Caucus Chairman Lowe Finney released a statement Wednesday on the Dec. 1 election results in the District 31 special election following the resignation of Republican Senator Paul Stanley.
"I am proud of the hard-fought campaign of Democratic nominee Adrienne Pakis-Gillon. She ran a very honorable race and had the opportunity to reach thousands of voters in her district about the need for economic development in Shelby County, higher standards for public schools and greater safety for neighborhoods." said Senator Finney.
"I know that those who went to the polls for Adrienne were motivated to do so because she is an example of a hard-working mom, small business owner, and community volunteer whose sole motivation for seeking office is to make Shelby County an even better place to raise a family.
"I congratulate Mr. Kelsey on his win, and our caucus welcomes him to the Tennessee State Senate. We look forward to working with Mr. Kelsey in a bipartisan fashion to put the needs of hard-working Tennesseans, who are facing challenging economic times, at the top of our priorities in the upcoming legislative session."
