Tennessean: Senate fails to adopt Renata Soto resolution

Senate Democratic Chairman Jeff Yarbro said the state Senate missed an opportunity to honor a nationally recognized civil rights leader in its inaction on a resolution to honor Nashville's Renata Soto.

Yarbro, reflecting on the chamber's action, said, "I think perhaps the most disappointing thing is the massive number of abstentions. If we're not comfortable honoring someone, I wish senators would have the courage to come out and oppose it."
